Spritual weight loss is entirely possible and the easiest to achieve. A wonderful psychologist explained to me a year ago that my size reflected my inner struggles and not what I ate. Of course, I thought she was wrong! What I ate was terrible for me. Also, I felt pretty darn happy. However, over the past year I have come to know that everything she said to me is correct. I have recently gone from a size 22 to a 16, and I need zero willpower. That is not because I don’t make mistakes, but because there is no such thing as failure.
These are the 3 principles of Spiritual Weight Loss:
Forgiveness – It is not if I screw up, but how often. The most important factor is loving yourself enough to allow yourself to be human. That takes forgiveness. You must believe that you always eat as you should for that moment. There is not shame, no timeline and no good and bad. Once you forgive yourself you will see how easy it is to go back to doing what feels good to your body.
Persistance – Edison took 10,000 shots at electricity before he figured it out. This will take time, and I am trying not to count the days, meals and moments. I am eating whole, healthy plants and animals. This includes a lot of foods other diets say are not allowed. While I am being persistent, I am shrinking quickly at times and getting derailed at times.
Let me mention that being persistant means there is no failure. I ate so much on vacation last week, and I feel like a giant slug. I am working on my forgiveness every day and when you truly forgive it is easy to pick up again.
Spiritual Healing – We know what to eat. This journey is really about getting out of that prism and correcting the reason diets don’t ever work. Spirtiual weight loss is about healing your spirit and the eating will follow. Dont pick up another diet book or read a book from a skinny person telling you it’s easy. If you have 50-100 pounds to loose powering through will not work. You need to dig deal and start growing as a human being. Start by reading something inspiring like, The Alchemist. Keep your mind busy and off of food.
